Hyung N. Sohn

Hyung N. Sohn joined Nixon & Vanderhye PC in 2007. He primarily focuses his practice on patent preparation and prosecution for both domestic and international clients. Mr. Sohn has experience being involved in all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution starting from reviewing invention disclosures and interviewing inventors, drafting and filing applications in the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, responding to Office Actions, and preparing and filing appeals.

Mr. Sohn is experienced in an array of technologies in the electrical and mechanical arts including semiconductors, telecommunications, computer hardware and software, electronics, display technologies, steam and gas turbines among others. He has drafted and prosecuted numerous patent applications related to standards bodies such as 3GPP and WiMAX. Other experiences include preparing opinion letters and counseling clients.

Mr. Sohn worked in the industry working as software engineer for over eight years prior to becoming an attorney. In conjunction with others, Mr. Sohn developed and implemented projects for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) and for the Department of Defense and in private projects for companies such as Bell South.

Mr. Sohn is a Registered Patent Attorney and a member of the Virginia and the District of Columbia Bars.
