STANLEY C. SPOONER has been a registered patent attorney since 1974 and was educated at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (B.S., Aerospace Engineering, 1970) and Marshall-Wythe School of Law, College of William and Mary (J.D., 1975). He is a member of the Virginia Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Licensing Executives Society. His publications include "Patent, Trademark & Copyright Law: A Primer For The General Practitioner," Virginia Bar News, June 1982. Mr. Spooner's legal experience includes all
phases of patent and
trademark preparation and prosecution, including
appellate practice
before the Patent Office Board of Appeals
and the U.S. Court of Appeals
for the Federal Circuit, preparation of infringement
and validity
opinions, conducting patent infringement litigation
in the Federal
courts, (see Palumbo v. Don-Joy, 226 U.S.P.Q.
5 (CAFC 1985); Lomah
Electronic Targetry Inc. v. ATA Training Aids,
Inc. et al, decided July
30, 1987 (4th Cir.)), trade secret litigation
in Maryland, Pennsylvania
and New Jersey, and patent and trademark licensing
and negotiations
between domestic and foreign corporations.
His technical areas of
expertise include rotary and fixed wing aircraft,
turbo machinery,
position, pressure and acceleration sensors,
electronic control systems
and general automotive patent matters. Mr.
Spooner has also lectured in
the U.S. and abroad on various aspects of
intellectual property
