JONATHON REAVILL focuses his practice primarily on patent litigation. His extensive litigation experience spans a variety of technical fields, including mechanical, electrical, computer, and chemical technologies. Mr. Reavill’s experience includes litigation at the federal district court and appellate levels, as well as before the International Trade Commission.
Having played a central role in numerous complex patent litigations, Mr. Reavill draws from his particular experience with jurisdictional and venue issues, procedural and discovery issues, depositions, summary judgment practice, preparation of expert reports on technical and damages issues, joint defense groups, trial preparation, jury and non-jury trials, post-trial briefing; and issues specific to patent litigation, such as claim construction, patent infringement, patent validity, and patent enforceability. Mr. Reavill has also provided primary support in cases involving other aspects of intellectual property law, such as unfair competition, trademark, and copyright issues.
Mr. Reavill originally joined Nixon & Vanderhye as an office assistant in 1991, while he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in history at George Mason University. Mr. Reavill received his B.A. degree (with high distinction) in 1993 and continued with Nixon & Vanderhye as a litigation paralegal before beginning law school at the College of William & Mary. While attending law school, Mr. Reavill continued to provide litigation support for Nixon & Vanderhye. After serving as a Board Editor of the William & Mary Law Review, Mr. Reavill received his Juris Doctor degree in 1997 and returned to Nixon & Vanderhye, where he has been a shareholder since 2002.
Mr. Reavill is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the American Bar Association, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
