ARTHUR R. CRAWFORD has been a member of the firm since its founding and a registered patent attorney since 1969. He was educated at Ohio Northern University where he received a B.S. in Pharmacy in 1966 and at the George Washington University where he received a J.D. in 1969 and a Master of Laws (Patents and Trade Regulation) in 1972.
He is a member of the District of Columbia and Virginia Bar Associations, the American Intellectual Property Law Association and is a registered Pharmacist in Ohio and the District of Columbia .
Mr. Crawford's legal experience includes all phases of patent preparation and prosecution, including interferences and appellant practice before the Patent Office Board of Appeals and Interferences, as well as patent infringement, discovery and litigation in the Federal courts. His technical areas of expertise are primarily in the life sciences and include fine chemicals and fragrances, pharmacologically active synthetic and plant-derived organic compounds, immunology, methods of medical treatment, and diagnostic methods and reagents.
He has over thirty-five years of experience
in patent application and
prosecution and in patent infringement litigation.
Mr. Crawford has
lectured abroad concerning the U.S. requirements
for depositing
biological materials. Upon becoming a member
of the bar, he entered the
practice of law in 1969 at Cushman, Darby & Cushman
in Washington , D.C.
where he became a partner in 1974 before joining
Nixon & Vanderhye in
1985.
